Union Station lanes to be closed

The pick-up/drop-off and cab-catching spots in front of Union Station could be a little more tricky to navigate this week.

The District Department of Transportation will be closing some service lanes outside of Union Station temporarily as they demolish and remove the concrete medians separating the lanes as part of the Columbus Plaza Rehabilitation Project. The work started Tuesday and continues to Saturday.

DDOT will keep at least one lane open for taxis, buses, shuttles and drivers dropping off and picking up passengers. But with just one lane open during parts of the week, DDOT is warning that the back-ups could create some “minimal impacts to the flow of traffic.”
