MEXICO, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve ended their search of an abandoned property in central New York as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a convenience store clerk 20 years ago.
Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oaks tells local media that no human remains were found at a cabin in the town of Mexico where sheriff’s investigators spent five days searching for kidnapping victim Heidi Allen.
Oakes says there’s no evidence indicating the abandoned cabin was related to the abduction of Allen, whose body has never been found. She was last seen in early April 1994 working at a convenience store in the neighboring town of New Haven.
A jury convicted Gary Thibodeau of kidnapping Allen. He’s serving 25 years to life in prison. A federal public defender is seeking to overturn his 1995 conviction.
