Immigrant rights group occupies Biden campaign office and issues demands

Movimiento Cosecha, an undocumented immigrant rights group, staged an occupation protest inside Joe Biden’s campaign office in Philadelphia on Wednesday, demanding the former vice president apologize for the deportations that occurred under the Obama administration’s watch.

On their Twitter account, the group explained why they are targeting Biden and not just President Trump on the hotly-debated issue.

“For the past 2 decades, undocumented immigrants have been living a crisis: raids, family separation, millions of deportations. Now, the Trump administration’s cruel treatment of immigrants at the border & across the country has finally exposed the inhumanity of our whole system,” the group tweeted, saying Democrats are also at fault because they continue to fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

They demanded that Biden and the rest of the Democratic candidates promise to end all detention and deportation of migrants on day one, to reunite the families that have been separated, and to give immediate citizenship to all 11 million illegal immigrants.

Since some members in the protesting group refused to leave the building, police were called in and they arrested the people who did not leave.
