Sen. Cory Booker denied a report claiming that Hillary Clinton was vetting him as her potential running mate.
“I am hearing much more from media folks like you asking me these questions. It’s flattering and everything like that, but I’m not being vetted,” the New Jersey Democrat said on MSNBC Thursday. He also said no one from the campaign is asking him for tax returns or other personal data.
“The only time I get asked from my personal data is my credit card number when I’m trying to buy lunch,” he responded, before talking about gun control legislation.
Booker, who was part of a near 15-hour filibuster over gun control legislation Wednesday morning to early Thursday, said Republicans who oppose new measures are “out of step” with voters who want them.
“I fear that these kind of tragedies will continue to happen with an agonizing routine regularity,” Booker said, alluding to Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando, Fla., that left 50 dead, including the shooter, and 53 others injured.
