ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York’s comptroller reports state tax collections through the first five months of the current fiscal year were $26.9 billion, slightly higher than projected, while the state received some $3.5 billion from financial settlements, most of that unexpected.
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the state government’s cash position is strong.
His office’s monthly cash report shows overall tax receipts are 1.3 percent less than a year earlier.
He says all but $300 million of the settlement funds were unanticipated.
