Multiple people are dead following a military cargo plane crash near a Savanna, Ga. airport on Wednesday.
There are conflicting reports regarding how many people died in the crash: The Associated Press reported the county coroner said two of the five passengers on board the military aircraft died as a result of the crash.
However, a report from CBS News indicates that all five of the passengers are deceased.
The Air Force confirmed the C-130 Hercules military aircraft was carrying five passengers, but did not state how many of the individuals died.
“While performing a training mission, an United States C-130 “Hercules” cargo plane from Puerto Rico Air National Guard crashed at about 11:30 a.m. today near the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport with 5 people on board,” the statement read.
“The names will be released upon notification of next-of-kin. A board of officers will investigate the accident.”
First responders from the Savannah Professional Firefighters Association at the scene tweeted out a photo of the crash landing, which closed down Highway 21 and Gulf Stream Road right outside of the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport.
