Pelosi: Release of American Hostages Should Not Be Part of Iran Deal

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Thursday that the release of four Americans being held in Iran should not be part of a deal with the Islamic Republic.

“Do you think the four American hostages being held in Iran should be released as a precondition to any deal made about Iran?” asked a reporter at a briefing.

“No,” Pelosi answered quickly. “It would have been good, but it’s just—no. This is a nuclear deal.” Watch the video below:

President Obama was asked about these four Americans in his press conference yesterday, as well.

Among the four Americans being held is a journalist for the Washington Post, Jason Rezaian, and a Christian pastor, Saeed Abedini. Additionally, former Marine Amir Hekmati has been detained since 2011 and Robert Levinson has been missing since 2007.
