Company to create public parking in private driveways

A company new to the U.S. is hoping to give D.C. commuters more options for parking. The website parkatmyhouse.com connects commuters with homeowners who want to rent out their driveways or lots as parking spaces.

The company, backed by BMWi Ventures and first launched in the United Kingdom in 2006, claims to have brought $5 million to European homeowners already.

The site is now open to commuters and homeowners in New York, Boston and Washington, D.C.

Spaces on the site were selling Tuesday for $250/month in Dupont Circle, $90/month near Fort Myer and $250/week near Connecticut Avenue and K Street.
