A Prince George’s County woman was found guilty of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment as the mastermind of an attack that left another woman and her 3-year-old daughter suffering severe burns.
County prosecutors argued that Bladensburg resident Tamara Jackson, 31, recruited a friend to stake out the home of her ex-boyfriend’s former flame, Katrina Watts, in March 2010.
Jackson instructed her friend to throw an acid-like substance at Watts as Watts returned home. Both Watts and her daughter were hospitalized with severe burns to the face and scalp, wounds that damaged Watts’ eyesight and left permanent scars.
“This was an attack that was senseless, cold, heartless, and violent beyond belief,” said Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks.
A Circuit Court jury also found Jackson guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and solicitation of first-degree assault. She is being held without bond, and scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 3.
