ONEIDA CASTLE, N.Y. (AP) — A central New York woman is asking for the public’s help in finding a gold Marine Corps medallion that disappeared from her late son’s headstone in Oneida Castle Cemetery.

Vicky Arnold says she last saw the silver dollar-sized medallion on the base of her son’s headstone on Memorial Day. She discovered it missing when she returned to the cemetery the next day.

Her son, Lance Corporal Jeremy Lasher, was killed in action in Afghanistan in July 2009 by an improvised explosive device.

Arnold says the medallion was placed on the headstone three years ago by her son-in-law, who was with Lasher when he died.

Arnold told the Oneida Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1lUZACR ) she’s notified state police. Anyone with information is asked to call 315-366-6000.
