Garbage. Nearly everything Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says is just that. He has either a sinister compulsion for telling bald-faced lies or he’s nuttier than barrel of peanuts. The Holocaust? It’s an overblown story that maybe never happened, he says. Iranian women are the freest in the world, he exclaims. But nevermind the stonings when they’re raped. What makes all his craziness even more frightening is the fact that Iran is trying to join the nuclear club. Let’s hope the world community applies itself to preventing that outcome.
Before inking this cartoon, I experimented drawing it from a straight-on perspective, but decided to stick with this one to accentuate the garbage having spewed out from the speakers. I also tinkered with having Ahmadinejad say, “… thank you!” or “… and in conclusion …” But I thought it was better to keep it simple. Here’s the original sketch of the cartoon:
