Beltway drivers are paying more attention to the road, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.
A new survey shows that 33 percent fewer drivers than last year are talking on hand-held cell phones while traveling through HOT lane construction zones on the Capital Beltway, according to the travel group.
Other forms of distracted driving, such as reading and writing texts, also declined. AAA attributed the reduction to the success of distracted driving awareness programs such as “Orange Cones. No Phones.”
