Under Armour hires communications director

Baltimore-based Under Armour hired former Reebok employee Diane Pelkey as director of communications.

Pelkey most recently served as director of global brand communications for Reebok International, where she directed all aspects of global communications for the Reebok brand. Pelkey has nearly 20 years of public relations, marketing and brand management.

Pelkey will lead Under Armour’s global internal and external public relations efforts.

“Her strong knowledge of the industry and relationships with media will help to continually raise the public awareness and understanding of the Under Armour story,” Steve Battista, senior vice president of brand marketing for Under Armour, said in a statement.

Residential auction firm moves to Pikesville

Fox Residential Auctions LLC, which exclusively sells residential real estate for sellers choosing the auction method, has relocated from Owings Mills to Pikesville.

FRA selected its new, larger offices in Pikeville to accommodate recent company growth. The firm has expanded and formed a partnership with Long & Foster Real Estate.

The residential auction industry is expanding, as nationwide sales have increased nearly 47 percent since 2003, according to FRA.

Two execs join U.Md. Entrepreneurship Center

Steven Roth and Karen Olson have joined the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, the university announced Monday. Olson is the chief executive officer of BioMarker Strategies LLC, a biomedical device company headquartered at the Johns Hopkins Biotech Park in Baltimore. Roth is the chief operating officer and founder of Onyx Government Services Inc., a provider of technical consulting services to commercial and public sector firms. “Karen and Steven significantly deepen the resources for the firms the center serves — particularly those focused on biotechnology and technology transfer,” Asher Epstein, the center’s managing director, said in a statement.
