Eric Trump says Cruz has lost his ‘political credibility’

CLEVELAND – Eric Trump ripped Ted Cruz on Thursday morning, suggesting the Texas senator lost “a lot of political credibility” last night for declining to endorse Donald Trump during his speech to the Republican convention.

“I think it was just silly,” Eric Trump told NBC on the floor of the convention. “Don’t come out on stage if you don’t want to endorse. Don’t come out on stage if you don’t want to be supportive.”

Recalling the several seconds during which delegates booed Cruz and urged him to endorse Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee’s son said “the audience spoke for themselves.”

“When you have 22,000 people booing you from your own party’s convention I think that is pretty — I think he lost a lot of political credibility yesterday,” Eric Trump said. “A lot [of] people are calling it political suicide. I don’t know if it is that or not, but listen when you have 22,000 people booing you in a room of your peers, that’s a pretty bad thing for your career.”

He continued, “I always heard [Cruz] didn’t have that many friends in Washington, D.C. He certainly didn’t have that many friends in this room last night.”
