YOUNGSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says it has rescued three people from a disabled sailboat on Lake Ontario.

The 30-foot sailboat became disabled Monday morning about three miles northwest of the entrance to the Niagara River.

The Coast Guard says the station in Youngstown received a mayday call over marine radio from someone on the sailboat saying their sail was torn and they did not have a motor and were getting tossed around by the wind and waves.

Winds gusts of more than 25 mph and waves up to eight feet were reported at the time.

Officials say a rescue boat crew towed the sailboat to the Youngstown Yacht Club. No injuries were reported.
