Trump golfing with Lindsey Graham on Columbus Day

President Trump is spending Columbus Day golfing with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the White House said Monday.

The South Carolina senator was seen loading golf clubs into a black SUV at the White House, and the White House confirmed Trump will be golfing with Graham at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va.

Graham helped orchestrate last month’s revival of the GOP’s efforts to overhaul Obamacare. The South Carolina senator spearheaded a bill, with Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., to overhaul the healthcare system, which ultimately failed due to a lack of support among GOP senators.

Though Republicans have moved on to tax reform, Trump told reporters Saturday he spoke with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., about striking a bipartisan deal on healthcare.

“If we made a temporary deal, I think it would be a great thing for people, but it’s really up to him,” the president said. “Obamacare is a disaster. The numbers are out. It’s exploding like I said it would. So basically, if we could do a one-year deal or a two-year deal as a temporary measure, you’ll have block granting ultimately to the states, which is what the Republicans want. That really is a repeal and replace.”
