A U.S. civilian contractor was killed and several Iraqi and U.S. service members were wounded from a rocket attack at a base in Iraq.
K1 military base, located in Kirkuk province, was attacked on Friday evening. Mortar rounds struck the compound at about 7:20 p.m. local time, according to a press release from the Pentagon. The name of the contractor and the company the individual worked for have not been released.
Additionally, the Pentagon said that “several U.S. service members and Iraqi personnel were wounded” in the rocket attack.
The United States is looking into who was behind Friday’s deadly attack, which is also being investigated by Iraqi security forces.
