UPDATE: Plowman and Leyton had their first discussion about the case Friday morning. Leyton told the Flint Journal newspaer that the two prosecutors are “on the same page.”
The top prosecutor in Loudoun County says he hasn’t spoken to his Michigan counterpart about the case of Elias Abuelazam, the former Leesburg man suspected in a series of stabbing attacks across three states.
Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman told WTOP that David Leyton, Genesee County prosecutor, hasn’t returned his phone calls.
“You’d think they’d return my phone calls, especially since I have information that will help them,” Plowman told WTOP.
Abuelazam was held without bond in a Michigan court Thursday. He is accused of committing 18 stabbings — five fatal — in Michigan, Virginia and Ohio. He has not been charged yet in Leesburg, where three of the attacks were reported.
