WHAT: In an interview with Politico, Crawford defended some farm subsidies, saying, “The truth of the matter is I could argue that subsidizing agriculture is a pass-through to ultimately helping consumers.” WHY IT’S DIM: The American people didn’t ask for a single-payer grocery system. Even worse, many nonfarmers receive subsidies they never asked for because their land was once farmland.
