A man was pulled over and robbed by two men impersonating D.C. police officers early Saturday morning.
The victim was driving on the 4800 block of Texas Avenue Southeast around 3 a.m. when he was pulled over by what he thought at first was a police car, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Araz Alali said. The car had white flashing LCD lights on the dashboard.
Two men armed with handguns and wearing tactical vests marked with the word “police” approached the driver, told him to get out of the car, then ordered him to put his hands on the car. He complied, and the two men stole $400 in cash from him, the man told police.
Investigators are looking for two black males, both around 6 feet tall, both weighing about 170 pounds, both of medium complexion.
Police said the incident was an unusual but serious crime.
“I think it’s serious when someone’s impersonating a police officer,” Alali said.
