Seven men and one woman are vying to replace Del. Barry Glassman in Annapolis next month, when the north Harford Republican steps up for a retiring state senator.
Glassman was the hand-picked successor to Sen. J. Robert Hooper, who announced he would retire before the General Assembly?s regular session started in January. The Harford County Republican Central Committee will nominate Glassman to Gov. Martin O?Malley and is now planning interviews with the eight applicants who want to replace Glassman.
“We?ll interview them on their priorities for office, how they?ll handle being a freshman delegate, how they?re going to bring homemoney for Harford County,” said Michael Geppi, central committee chairman. “The questions are more geared toward them being new candidates for office, since none of them have really held elected office before.”

» Roger Lamble Sr., owner of the Bel Air-based guns and ammunition business Operation Lambo.
» Joseph Swilka, a former state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation employee.
» Theresa Reilly, central committee member and wife of Clerk of the Circuit Court James Reilly.
