Former President Donald Trump released a video campaign promoting photo ID for voting in Alabama.
Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill released the commercial on YouTube Monday morning, advocating for “election integrity” and fighting “election fraud.”
“The people of the great state of Alabama must work together to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat,” Trump said. “So get out and register to vote and get a photo ID so you can make your voice heard and decide the future of our great country.”

“I am so excited to announce that the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has agreed to help us promote voter registration & photo ID in the state of Alabama in 2022!” Merril tweeted Monday morning. “Please spread the message so we can promote #EasyToVoteAndHardToCheat.”

Merrill conducts the media campaign annually to promote secure elections, advocating for measures to improve election integrity, such as photo ID requirements.
Meanwhile, Senate Democrats failed last month to advance a voting rights bill that would effectively nationalize elections. However, some Republicans argued this would open the door even wider for fraud.
Sen. Bernie Sanders tweeted before voting, “As the voting rights bill finally comes to the floor of the Senate, there is only one vote which will really matter. Will 50 Democrats vote to override the filibuster, protect American democracy and pass the bill, or will Manchin and Sinema vote with the GOP and let the bill die?”
