NEW YORK (AP) — Police say they’re looking for a man who fired a gun at an officer and a sergeant in Queens.
They say the incident happened in Elmhurst around 1:45 a.m. Saturday. The officer and sergeant were responding to a report of men trespassing behind an apartment building.
Police say the man ignored orders to drop his weapon and fled once the officer and sergeant returned fire.
Police described the man as 20 to 25 years old and about 5-foot-6 with a medium build.
They say officers found his loaded .22-caliber handgun at the scene.
A $12,000 reward is being offered leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction. Police are asking people with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS or visit nypdcrimestoppers.com.
