U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen’s office phoned Friday to assure us that Machen does not know Harry “Tommy” Thomas, Jr., and that even though they might be members of Omega Psi Phi, their fraternal ties will have no effect on Machen’s current investigaton of allegations that Thomas diverted public funds for his own use, such as buying an Audi SUV, taking trips to Las Vegas and dining at Hooters. Machen’s spokesman noted that Omega is an international fraternity with nearly 100,000 members.
