Patriots and Buccaneers observe moment of silence for Las Vegas shooting victims

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers honored those who lost their lives in the Las Vegas mass shooting by observing a moment of silence prior to kickoff during Thursday night’s football game.

The gesture comes after ESPN aired the national anthem live after the attack before the “Monday Night Football” kickoff for the game between the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs even though that was not originally planned, along with a moment of silence.

The gunman, Stephen Paddock, opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel Sunday night on concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. The attack took the lives of 59, including Paddock, and injured 489, according to the latest estimate from law enforcement.

Paddock was found dead in his hotel room by police after the shooting.
