President Trump could issue a revised version of his controversial executive order that put a hold on immigration, and which the court system has since blocked from being implemented.
“Nothing’s off the table,” a White House official told CNN on Friday after being asked if a revised order is being considered. But the official declined to confirm whether the president is already considering a new executive order.
The 9th Circuit Court of appeals delivered a devastating ruling to Trump late Thursday evening, by choosing to uphold a federal judge’s restraining order that has barred the administration from enforcing its travel ban on immigration from seven countries.
“SEE YOU IN COURT,” Trump tweeted minutes after the ruling was announced.
The White House is now weighing its options, including whether the Justice Department should make a direct appeal to the Supreme Court or petition the 9th Circuit for a rehearing to consider the case a second time.
“It’s a political decision,” Trump told reporters after the court ruling on Thursday. “We’re going to see them in court and I look forward to doing that.”
“It’s a decision that we’ll win, in my opinion, very easily,” he added.
