Pelosi’s daughter deletes fake Acosta quote about Epstein

Christine Pelosi, the daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, tweeted and then deleted a fake quote attributed to Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta while he was giving a press conference about his handling of the first case against Jeffrey Epstein.

#Acosta straight up admitting his double standard of justice,” Pelosi tweeted, adding in quotations something Epstein never said, “Mr Epstein was a very wealthy and important person, his friends even more so, and these girls – much as we sympathized with them – just weren’t either of those things.”

After Epstein was arrested last week for molesting dozens of underage girls and sex trafficking, Pelosi tweeted, “It is quite likely that some of our faves are implicated but we must follow the facts and let the chips fall where they may – whether on Republicans or Democrats.”

Acosta, who was the U.S. attorney that handled Epstein’s sex crimes case 10 years ago, which resulted in a light sentence, said the decisions he made were in the best interest for the underage victims. By avoiding a trial, he argued, they would not be cross-examined in court and ensured Epstein would serve time in jail and be forced to register as a sex offender.

“These are really hard cases. The prosecutors in my office and I were focused on putting him in jail … Today, that would proceed very differently because victim-shaming is just not accepted but the circumstances of trials and what juries would consider 12 years ago was different,” he said. “So these were the judgments that were made.

Acosta is facing calls to resign from Democrats, but he said he is not resigning and it is up to President Trump to decide if he stays in office.
