While E3 scaled back displays and booth babes this year, the announcements made by the big three gaming companies — Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony — were bigger than ever.
Microsoft released details and release dates on a number of anticipated titles, including “Halo 3,” “Gears of War” for the PC and “Grand Theft Auto IV.”
While Microsoft’s announcements were aimed at the hard-core gamer, Nintendo targeted general audiences with the new “Wii Fit.”
“Wii Fit” will come with a wireless balance board and measure your weight distribution and balance. It also will be used as a controller forexercise games that will challenge players to do yoga poses, push-ups and various exercises.
Nintendo also gave release dates for its fan-favorite franchises “Super Smash Brothers,” “Mario Kart” and “Metroid,” which will all be released by Christmas.
Sony, trailing in the console wars, announced a $100 price drop for the PS3 and a new look for its hand-held, the PSP.
