Fairfax finds no intoxicated boaters

Fairfax County police didn’t find any intoxicated boaters while running their four-hour “boating while intoxicated” checkpoint at Occoquan Regional Park Marina Saturday.

Officers in the marine patrol unit stopped 25 boaters as part of their effort to curb intoxicated boating. They issued five safety warnings and one summons for a safety equipment violation, but no BWIs.

The police also handed out “I got caught wearing my life jacket by the Fairfax County Marine Patrol” T-shirts to children.
