Who: Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. What: McCaskill’s re-election effort was wounded by revelations that she used tax dollars to pay a company she partly owns and uses for political travel. Even worse, her company didn’t pay property taxes on the plane. She is reimbursing various governments upward of $400,000.
Why it’s dim: Being one of the wealthiest senators, it baffles that McCaskill would chisel on a minor matter like air travel.
Cure: New campaign slogan: Claire McCaskill, she gives it back when she gets caught.
