President Trump could answer another round of special counsel Robert Mueller’s questions in writing, according to his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
“They have the right to submit more questions to us. We have the right to say yes or no,” Giuliani told Axios.
Giuliani said the two sides made an agreement after the president submitted his first set of written answers to the special counsel last month that prosecutors could ask follow-up questions, but it doesn’t mean they’ll be answered.
“We might agree,” Giuliani said. “Or we might not.”
Mueller and Trump’s legal team negotiated for months about a possible sit down with the president. Mueller allowed Trump to respond to written questions about whether his associates colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign. The White House has so far resisted having Trump answer questions about possible obstruction of justice.
Giuliani ruled out an in-person interview between Trump and Mueller’s team on Sunday, telling “Fox News Sunday” that such a thing would occur “over my dead body.”
