Senate Intel committee asks for details on Trump’s Russia meeting

The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked the White House for information related to Monday’s press report that said President Trump revealed classified intelligence to a group of Russian officials.

A spokeswoman for Chairman Richard Burr confirmed the committee’s request for information, according to CNN. The Trump administration has said Trump didn’t say anything inappropriate to the Russians during last week’s meeting.

The committee meets Tuesday night in a previously scheduled closed-door session.

The news comes just hours after staffers close to the House Intelligence Committee confirmed that CIA Director Mike Pompeo will brief members of that committee Tuesday evening. But named and unnamed sources said the meeting was not a direct reaction to the report from the Washington Post.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is demanding that the Trump administration provide a full, unedited transcript of the president’s meeting to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“We need to be able to quickly assess whether this report is true and what exactly was said,” Schumer said in a Senate floor speech Tuesday.
