Clifton PTA President Patti Hopkins said parents would prefer to keep Clifton Elementary as it is rather than lose the school in favor of a new building three miles away.
Hopkins said the the PTA conducted a telephone survey among the town’s roughly 2,200 residents, and 90 percent of those who participated said they would prefer to keep the current Clifton building, flaws and all, rather than see students moved to a new school.
“If we lose the school, it’s going to be horrible for the town,” Hopkins said. “But I still feel like we have a chance.”
The School Board is scheduled to make a final decision in July.
