A protest held outside LA City Hall over coronavirus vaccine mandates this weekend turned into a fight that resulted in one man getting stabbed and two reporters being attacked.
Saturday’s protest, which was held in response to Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s vaccine mandate for staff and teachers at California schools leading into the fall, saw the fight break out after two groups gathered outside the south lawn of City Hall around 2 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Times. One group defended the governor’s mandate while the other opposed it.
The Los Angeles Fire Department sent the unidentified stabbing victim to the hospital, where he remained as of Monday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department told the Washington Examiner. Previous reports said the victim had been released Sunday night.

“Something happened to me today that’s never happened in 30 yrs of reporting,” Stoltze tweeted. “In LA. I was shoved, kicked and my eyeglasses were ripped off of my face by a group of guys at a protest – outside City Hall during an anti-vax Recall Gavin Newsom Pro Trump rally.”
The LAPD monitored the protest following the fight to “maintain order.”
“LAPD is monitoring a protest at the south lawn of the LA City Hall,” LAPD tweeted. “We are on scene to maintain order after a fight broke out. We are aware of 1 male that was stabbed & is being treated by LAFD. No arrests have been made but investigation is on going.”
