Actor says he and husband are raising their baby ‘gay until he decides he’s straight’

Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson said he and his husband are raising their 8-month-old son “gay until he decides he’s straight.”

“We’re raising him gay until he decides he’s straight,” Ferguson joked on Ellen DeGeneres’s show on Monday. “On the way back from the hospital, we played Britney Spears because that was Justin’s one demand to listen to. That was his first exposure to music.”

“We have about eight copies of the Very Hungry Caterpillar,” he added. “But one of the new books that I found that I really love is a book called The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish.”

Ferguson and his husband became fathers last year, when they welcomed Beckett into their family in July.

“You’ll love him just the same if he is straight?” DeGeneres asked the actor of Modern Family fame.

“Absolutely,” he responded, adding that he expects him to “be such a straight kid.”

“Who knows?” he added. “I mean, he can be whoever he wants. But like, I just have a feeling [he’s] going to play football. I could just tell. And I’m going to have to learn how to do all those things with him.”
