Metro officials on Thursday outlined the times and routes shuttle buses will run during the Red Line closures scheduled for Labor Day Weekend.
Five stations on the eastern side of the Red Line — Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, Silver Spring and Takoma — will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7. During that time, free shuttle buses will carry passengers between stations.

Metro operations official Jim Hughes said the planned closures are the system’s largest-ever maintenance shut down. He said Metro passengers can expect similar closures in coming months as the transit system implements new safety measures.
Metro has been doing major maintenance over the long holiday weekends to cut down on costs and keep the closures brief.
