CNN host Chris Cuomo wished “no peace” to President Trump following the coronavirus-related death of Herman Cain.
Cuomo noted on his show Thursday that Cain, who was the co-chairman of Black Voices for Trump, attended the president’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, shortly before he contracted COVID-19. He suggested that Trump was partially responsible for Cain’s illness because he encouraged the large event to take place.
“[The coronavirus] just took a former presidential candidate, Herman Cain. Yes, he supported the president. The president says he was a good friend of his. We wish his family well, and we wish that he rest in peace. And I wish that this president have no peace until he thinks about what he’s exposing people to,” Cuomo said.
“He didn’t even mention that Mr. Cain was at his rally among the maskless masses right before he was diagnosed. Now, maybe he didn’t get it there. Sure as hell didn’t help. May Herman Cain rest in peace. He fell ill not long after that rally in June. The one in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You see him not wearing a mask. How many lives do we have to lose? How many have to be sick?” he asked.
Cain died on Thursday morning after a monthslong battle with COVID-19. Trump mourned Cain’s death, calling him an “American patriot” and a “great man.”
Cuomo has fully recovered since contracting the coronavirus himself earlier this year. He was accused of breaking quarantine while ill after he admitted to being confronted by a man outside of his vacation home in East Hampton, New York.
