AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Austin authorities are investigating the death of a man who drove into Lady Bird Lake.
Police Capt. Matt Cox says witnesses report the man drove off of a service road into the water under an Interstate 35 bridge early Sunday. Rescue crews found the car hours later in about 20 feet of water.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He hasn’t been identified.
Cox says the man drove around reflective barricades and it’s unclear if the heavy rains or darkness caused the accident. He says there doesn’t appear to be foul play.
Police are investigating.
