Schooled

Mayor Fenty must be so excited now that his first day of school is finally here! Actually, he’s probably shaking in his boots. I would be, too, given the monumental task he’s taken upon himself: fixing the broken-down D.C. Public Schools. For decades, officials have failed the students in the D.C. system, and I sincerely hope Fenty won’t be another who lets these kids down.

As far as my cartoon goes, it was fun — though, a tad time-consuming — to draw all those kids involved in their various nefarious undertakings. I know there are a great many upstanding students in D.C. schools, but it’s appropriate to highlight some of the delinquency Mayor Fenty must now reform.

By the way, I was that kid in the top-left corner of the cartoon back when I attended public school. Ah, detention … I remember it well. Good times.
