Caps Second Period Update

Caps 2, Rangers 1

Brooks Laich does his best Mike Knuble impression. Bangs home a tipped shot by defenseman Mike Green, who was a blur in front of the net on a Chris Clark centering pass. So the Caps enter the third period up a goal. The Rangers have come back against Washington once already this season – down 3-2 in the third on Oct. 8 at Verizon Center. Marian Gaborik – already with a goal tonight – scored twice to beat the Caps that night. Laich now has five power-play goals on the year – one more than Ovechkin, who scored one earlier in the night – and nine goals overall. Right now, Caps are out-hitting New York 24-15, outshooting them 21-11 and just generally controlling play. We’ll see if they can hold on in the third.
