LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) — Fire officials say a single engine plane crashed in mountainous Riverside County, killing three people on board.
Cal Fire spokesman Lucas Spelman says the plane clipped a tree, breaking off its wing, and then fell into a ravine around 9:21 a.m. Sunday near the line dividing Riverside and Orange counties. When fire crews reached the wreckage, they found three bodies inside.
Spelman says the crash caused a small brush fire that was quickly extinguished.
The plane’s tail was destroyed, so officials could not immediately determine who owned it or where it took off.
