Virginia Tea Party candidate asks conservative blogger to apologize

Virginia Tea Party favorite and U.S. Senate candidate Jamie Radtke is calling on a conservative blogger to apologize after he wrote a blog post insinuating that she was drunk while she gave a speech two weeks ago.

Erick Erickson, head of the popular blog Redstate.com and who previously endorsed Radtke, posted a blog that quoted anonymous witnesses to the speech saying that Radtke was drunk while she delivered it at the Redstate.com convention. The anonymous quotes also said the speech was a “trainwreck,” “horrendous and never-ending.”

“Erick’s blog goes beyond the pale,” Radtke said in a statement. “He crossed the line by publishing complete falsehoods.”

Radtke will face former Virginia governor George Allen in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in 2012. Former Virginia governor and Democrat Tim Kaine is also contending for the seat.
