Protesters to “occupy the highway” en route to D.C.

Drivers on Route 1 (Washington Boulevard) will be joined Nov. 21 and 22 by anti-Wall Street protesters who plan to “occupy the highway.”

About 20 protesters left New York City Wednesday to march to D.C. to protest the extension of Bush-era tax cuts at a meeting of the deficit-cutting congressional supercommittee Nov. 23, and they’re asking others to join them.

The group plans to arrive in Baltimore Nov. 19 and then march on Route 1 to D.C. Nov. 21, joining their counterparts in McPherson Square Nov. 22.

The group includes a man with no shoes and another carrying only a Guy Fawkes mask, according to the group’s blog.
