No budget, just now, says Senator Conrad. The timing isn’t right.
[A]t a press conference in the Capitol on Tuesday, Conrad said tomorrow would only be “the beginning of a markup” and that a vote on the budget likely won’t happen until after the November election.
Seems that there are a number of things that Washington is putting off until after the election on the assumption that, somehow, things will be better then. There is this budget business. Also the Keystone pipeline. And those very large tax increases … if that is the right way to describe what happens when tax cuts expire. Also, our quarrels with the Russians over anti-missile defense, and other things.
Until then, it is campaign
season and time for promising all those things that can’t be done until after the election.
