Romney believes Trump could win

Mitt Romney thinks that Trump could win the presidency, but he suggested anything can happen.

The 2012 GOP nominee and fiery Trump critic said on a Radio Free GOP podcast about two weeks ago that it is “very possible” Trump wins the presidency. The news was little noticed until Buzzfeed reported Romney’s remarks Friday evening.

Romney said that it could be a close race or that Trump could also lose in a landslide.

“I don’t know which it’s going to be and a lot of that depends on what happens to Hillary Clinton,” he said. “Is there some meltdown moment, or some implosion of some kind?”

Romney has attacked Trump multiple times, calling the current GOP nominee a fraud and a con man. However, Romney did credit Trump with connecting with people through his “rhetoric and style.”

Romney also didn’t say whom exactly he is voting for in November. He said it won’t be for Clinton or Trump, and that he is looking at third parties.

If that doesn’t work then “I will write in the name of another Republican.”
