Nevada Republicans are narrowly leading their Democratic opponents at the top of the statewide ballot, according to a new poll.
Incumbents Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Gov. Steve Sisolak (D-NV) are trailing in the polls following challenges from former Attorney General Adam Laxalt and Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo. The GOP is targeting Nevada as a pickup opportunity.

The poll from the Nevada Independent-OH Predictive Insights released Sunday found that Lombardo is ahead of Sisolak in the gubernatorial race by about 3 points, 42% to 45%. Laxalt is leading Cortez Masto by a similar margin, 45% to 43%. The survey was conducted Sept. 20-29 among 741 likely Nevada voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
Past polling has also shown a tight race for Nevada governor. A poll from earlier in September by Trafalgar, which has an A- rating from FiveThirtyEight, also showed Lombardo with a 3-point lead. Most surveys have found the Senate race to be within the margin of error, with Laxalt and Cortez Masto coming within a point of each other.
With the exception of the attorney general race, Republican leads are wider down the ballot. Republican nominees for secretary of state and lieutenant governor lead by 8 points and 11 points, respectively, in the new poll, while Republican Sigal Chattah leads the Democratic incumbent attorney general by 2 points, 39% to 37%.

Republicans need to flip one Senate seat and defend all current GOP-held seats in order to gain a majority in the upper chamber. Cortez Masto has kept a relatively low profile as she seeks to defend her seat, focusing on bipartisan areas such as protecting Nevada from becoming a nuclear waste dumping ground. Laxalt, meanwhile, is courting the Hispanic vote and pledging to be tough on crime.
