Friday and Saturday: Dogfish Head Alehouse Fairfax Anniversary Celebration
It’s been a year since the Dogfish Head Alehouse opened in Fairfax, and they’re celebrating. The festivities started Thursday, but enjoy an extended happy hour from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday. The bar will also use a device called Randall the Enamel Animal, a self-described “organoleptic hop transducer module.” Then on Saturday there will be a party in the restaurant’s front parking lot, from 12 to 6 p.m.

Friday: Jazz in the Garden at the National Sculpture Garden
Is this on your list of things you gotta do in D.C., but you keep putting it off? Enough already. In its 10th year, it’s time to go. First, it’s free. Second, it’s at the Sculpture Garden. Third, it’s, well, free. 5 to 8:30 p.m., through Sept. 10. For more info, visit nga.gov/programs/jazz.

Through Sept. 5: Shakespeare Free For All at Sidney Harman Hall
This D.C. summer tradition just got under way. Each year, the Shakespeare Theatre Company puts on a work of the Bard for free. This time around, it’s “Twelfth Night,” kicking off the 2010-11 season. Saturday: Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival at National Harbor
Crab? Check. Beer? Check. Well, we’re sold. From the folks who put on the annual Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival comes the Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival from noon to 7 p.m. at National Harbor. Your tickets includes all you care to taste, and the beer selection has items such as Heavy Seas and Flying Dog. There’s liquor and wine, as well as live music, headlined by JunkFood. Saturday: Kiss at Jiffy Lube Live
