NEW YORK (AP) — Time Warner Cable is working to restore service after an outage cut Internet and on-demand cable service to customers across the United States.

Time Warner spokesman Rich Ruggiero says the outage started at about 4:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday.

He says an issue with Time Warner’s Internet backbone created the disruption.

Regular cable TV service was not affected.

Ruggiero says service was largely restored by 6 a.m. EDT.

He did not know how many customers lost service.
