The two-month-old Occupy DC protests have cost the District nearly $1 million so far, WTOP reports.
According to documents WTOP obtained from Mayor Vincent Gray’s office, monitoring the protests has cost the Metropolitan Police Department $870,000.
Other city agencies have spent $20,000 on the protests in the form of sanitation services, such as emptying trash cans and sweeping streets, and traffic control officers for the marches across the city.
For example, Thursday’s march on Key Bridge cost the city $4,400 in payment for traffic control officers, not counting pay for police officers, WTOP reports.
New York City has paid about $6 million for its Occupy Wall Street protests.
