Toddler killed chasing ball into street A 2-year-old boy was killed Saturday afternoon in Prince George’s County when he ran into the street to chase a basketball and was hit by a car, according to county police. Ethan Tyson Guzman was playing with two other children in the front yard of his home on the 6400 block of 85th Avenue in New Carrollton, said Sgt. Sonya Rorls. The incident occurred around 3 p.m.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was not charged following an investigation by the police collision analysis reconstruction unit.

Teen rescued from capsized boat

An 18-year-old was rescued Sunday morning after waiting more than nine hours atop a capsized boat in the Severn River, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The man was rescued around 9:15 a.m. and flown to University of Maryland Hospital’s Shock Trauma Center after suffering from hypothermia, according to the Coast Guard’s Lt. j.g. Salomee Fisher. His name has not been released but as of Sunday afternoon he was in good condition, she said.

The man’s 15-foot sailboat capsized around midnight, and he waited for help until he was spotted by a bulk freighter pilot Sunday morning. The Coast Guard, Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Anne Arundel County fire department aided in the rescue.

Police seek help in finding missing woman

Montgomery County detectives are asking for help in finding a missing woman who may be emotionally unstable. Vanessa Sue McKinney, 47, was last seen on April 5 around 7 a.m. at her residence on the 800 block of Maplewood Avenue in Takoma Park. Police said they and her family are concerned for her emotional well-being as she is not carrying her medication.

McKinney is described as a black female, 5-foot-2, weighing 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact county police at 301-279-8000. – Liz Farmer
